Because block walls already enclose most valley yards, the gate is often the whole job. We build and hang side-yard walk gates, double RV gates, courtyard entry gates and sliding or swinging driveway gates, in steel, aluminum, wood on steel frames or composite infill.
A gate fails at its posts. Hanging a heavy steel gate straight off a block pilaster cracks the masonry over time, so we set steel posts in their own concrete footings inside the opening. RV gates get a center drop rod, a cane bolt sleeve in the concrete and wheels when the span needs them. Solid gates are braced for wind, and we often suggest perforated or slatted infill on exposed lots in the northwest and the foothills so gusts pass through.
For automatic gates we install slide and swing operators with keypads, remotes, phone entry and the safety devices that current gate standards call for, such as photo eyes and edges. Power to the gate, any permit and the fire department access rules for a gated driveway depend on your jurisdiction. HOAs commonly regulate RV gate width, color and what can be parked behind one. We check before we fabricate.
Gates & gate operators in Las Vegas: common questions
Can you widen my side yard for an RV gate?
Usually. A section of block return wall is removed, steel posts are set and a double gate is hung. We check setbacks, utilities at the side of the house and HOA rules first.
Why does my steel gate drag in summer?
The hinge post has usually leaned or the hinges have worn. Heat expansion alone is small. We reset the post and adjust or replace the hinges.
Can an operator be added to my existing driveway gate?
If the gate is square, swings or rolls freely and is strong enough, yes. Power and safety devices are part of the quote.
