Baseball and softball run nearly year-round in southern Nevada, and fields at schools, parks, churches and private academies all need backstops. We build new chain link backstops and repair old ones, along with dugout fencing, baseline fence and outfield fence.
A backstop is a tall steel frame with heavy fabric, and height brings wind load. We size posts and footings for the height and for any hood or overhang, and we break through caliche to get full footing depth. The fabric is a heavier gauge than yard chain link, tied closely so balls do not push through, with a bottom rail or boards at ground level. Padding and netting extensions can be added where foul balls reach parking or neighbors.
Repairs are common after years of ball strikes and sun: curled fabric at the bottom, broken ties, bent rails and rusted post bases near irrigated turf. We also fence batting cages. Public and school projects usually come with drawings and specifications, and tall structures can need a permit. We bid from your documents or measure the field ourselves.
Backstops in Las Vegas: common questions
Can you repair the bottom of a backstop where the fabric has curled?
Yes. We replace the damaged fabric, add a bottom rail or boards and re-tie it.
How tall can a backstop be?
The league level and the site set the design height, and local zoning may limit it. We check before building.
Do you build for private homes?
Yes, including small backstops and batting cages, subject to HOA and zoning limits.
