How Long Does It Take to Install a Fence in Las Vegas?

How long a fence installation takes in Las Vegas, what slows it down, and how to plan around a new dog, a pool or an HOA deadline.

The installation itself usually takes 2 to 3 working days for a typical yard, spread across about a week so the post concrete can set. Most of the calendar goes to the steps before that: the estimate, any permit, HOA approval, the 811 marks and the wait for a slot.

What happens, in order

  • Free site visit and measurements, then a written quote.
  • Permit from the city or the county if your job needs one, plus HOA approval.
  • 811 request ahead of digging, and a wait for the utility marks.
  • Old fence removed, holes dug or broken out, posts set in concrete.
  • Panels and gates installed, yard cleaned up, final walk with you.

What slows a fence job down in Las Vegas?

  • Plan review for block walls, retaining walls and pool barriers.
  • HOA design review committees with fixed meeting dates.
  • Caliche that must be broken or cored hole by hole.
  • Summer heat, which pushes work to the early morning, and windy days.
  • Custom steel waiting on fabrication and powder coat.
  • Electrical work for a gate operator.

We are getting a dog in three weeks and have no fence. What is fastest?

Call now. HOA approval and the utility marks use up part of that time. In-stock material goes up quickest. In many valley yards the block wall is already there and only the side gates are missing, which is a short job. We can also fence a small dog area first and finish the larger plan later.

We are putting in a pool. Fence before or after?

Plan the barrier with the pool and build it after excavation. The dig crew needs a way in, which can mean removing part of a wall and rebuilding it. The barrier has to be complete and inspected before the building department gives final approval on the pool.

My association says fix the fallen panels by Monday and my contractor keeps delaying. Can a handyman patch it?

A handyman patch on your own fence is your decision and usually satisfies a short deadline. Read your contract and give the contractor written notice first. Keep the patch small. Nevada limits unlicensed work to very small jobs, and structural wall repairs may need a permit.

Nobody can price a fence from a desk. We come out, measure the line and write the number down, and the visit costs nothing. Call (702) 829-5267, or text photos of the yard to that number.
