Aluminum & Ornamental Steel Fences in Las Vegas, NV

Ornamental steel is the second most common fence in Las Vegas after block wall, and the two usually work together. A low block base with steel pickets above keeps a view of the mountains or a golf course. Steel side gates close the gap between house and wall. Front courtyards, pool enclosures and commercial frontages use the same material. Locals call it wrought iron. It is welded tubular steel.

Finish is what separates a steel fence that lasts from one that streaks with rust in five years. We use galvanized or primed steel under a powder coat, cap the tops of posts, and keep the bottom rail off wet soil and gravel. Sprinklers and pool splash are the main enemies, and valley soil can be corrosive at the base of a post. Aluminum is the better pick right beside water, since it cannot rust, and it weighs less on a wide gate.

On slopes and stepped walls in Summerlin, Henderson and the northwest, we cut and weld sections on site to follow the grade. Many associations publish an exact picket spacing, height and color for view fence, and pool barriers have code limits on gaps. We build to those documents and check city or county height limits for anything added on top of a wall.

Aluminum & ornamental steel in Las Vegas: common questions

Is it wrought iron or steel?

Almost all of it is tubular steel, welded and powder coated. True hand-forged wrought iron is rare and custom.

Can you repair rusted sections without replacing the fence?

Often. We cut out rusted pickets or rails, weld in new steel and refinish. Posts rusted through at the base are replaced.

Steel or aluminum next to my pool?

Aluminum resists pool water best. Steel is stronger for wide gates and is fine near a pool if the coating is kept intact.
